Tribal Wood Carving - 139 (185cm)
Found in Indonesia, these tribal wood carving statues were once Lesung bowls which were traditionally used in a domestic method as a mortar to hold and grind rice, spices, corn or various gains.
Now that the families have more sophisticated grinding methods (electric food processors), the Lesung's have been transformed into statues perfect for a tribal aesthetic in the garden. While the Lesung's use has been transformed, they still hold cultural significance, especially in rural areas and within traditional cooking practices.
Each Lesung is carved from a different piece of wood, so each one will be unique in height, colour and statue design.
- 220 x 40 x 30
- Brown timber
- Bambusa chungii 'Barbelletta' in the background
