Thaumatophyllum stenolobum
Formerly Philodendron stenolobum
An absolute stunner of a plant with long narrow and wavy leaves which can get close to a meter long. A great indoor pot plant or understory feature plant in the garden.
Pronunciation: tau-mate-ohh-fyll-um
Synonyms (AKA): Formerly Philodendron stenolobum, Incorrectly P. williamsii
Typical height: 1 to 1.5m
Climate: Prefers tropical / subtropical climate, but can be grown in warm positions in Temperate climates.
Light conditions: Filtered sun / shade
Growth habit: Self heading
Growing conditions: Moist well drained soil, rich in organic matter
In 2018 the stenolobum was reclassified from being a philodenron to now being a Thaumatophyllum. This decision was largely based on DNA analysis which separates it from many of the other true philodendrons.
There can be slight markings on the newly formed leaves. This will grow out as the plant matures.
