The plant’s leaves are large, elongated, and exhibit a remarkable metallic sheen, typically in shades of purple, silver, and green. The underside of the leaves is usually a deep purple, providing a beautiful contrast to the reflective upper surfaces. This color display is especially dramatic in indirect light, where the leaves almost seem to glow.

Persian Shield thrives in bright indirect light, making it a great addition to brightly lit indoor spaces or shaded garden beds. It prefers moist, well-drained soil and a humid environment, with regular watering to maintain its lush appearance. Although it can reach a height of 1.5m, it tends to grow as a bushy, compact shrub that is best pruned to about 1m to maintain its shape.
