Ganesha is considered to be the God of New Beginnings, Wisdom and Luck and ultimately, The Remover of Obstacles. 

Ganesha is a compounded Sanskrit word derived from gana, meaning 'group' and isha, meaning 'master'. Ganesha is associated with the Hindu mudra Om and we can see this in the hand placement as well as the markings on the trunk.
