Aptly named, it is sometimes called a cane begonia due to its tough bamboo like stems. It is a stunning hybrid, resulting from a cross with Begonia aconitifolia and Begonia coccinea. 

Not as sensitive to light like Rex begonias. Likes bright filtered light. Makes a lovely indoor plant. Responds well to liquid and slow release fertilisers with extra potassium to help boost colour. Prefers moist, but slightly dry soil media. Water when the first inch or two of potting mix feels dry to the touch. Avoid overwatering especially during the cooler months.
