A stunning bamboo with very small leaves, upright growth habit and near solid culms.
This bamboo is not always striated (as in photos above), but quite often new shoots will come up with strong striations.
There is some confusion about both the name of the bamboo and its origin. It is most widely known as Bambusa nana, however it is sometimes put under the species 'multiplex' which is incorrect, as it is distinctly different from all the multiplexs. In actual fact, it probably shouldnt even fall under the Bambusa genus, as it is more closely related to the Thyrsostachys genus, originating from Thailand.
This particular clone (what we call the 'Fine Leaf' Clone), comes directly from Thailand and was imported by Rollo Campbell in the early 90's.
This is a difficult bamboo to propogate, thus stock is limited and prices will remain high for the foreseeable future.
