Bambusa lako (Timor Black)
This is the most common black bamboo, and with good reason - the glossy black culms with green striations make this bamboo a fantastic feature plant.

Typical culm diameter: 6cm
Minimum temperature tolerance: -2°C
Climate: Prefers tropical or subtropical climates, unless well protected.
Light conditions: Full sun to part shade
Growth habit: Upright, tidy, fairly tight clumping
Growing conditions: Moist, well drained soil. Keep well mulched.
Origin: Indonesia
The bottom couple of meters are usually free from foliage, giving this bamboo a very tidy and clean appearance. On the flipside, it also means that the Timor Black is not all that great as a screening plant, especially if screening is required at lower levels.
