Asplenium antiquum (Japanese Bird's Nest Fern)
A cold hardy bird's nest fern suitable for growing in most parts of Australia. Can grow up to 1m wide and 1m high. An easy to look after pot plant or garden plant. The A. antiquum is hardier and more compact than the common bird's nest fern (A. nidus).
Excellent feature plant and a beautiful variety that has glossy green curling fronds with wavy edges.
May be grown in a shady part of the garden at ground level, in the fork of a tree or in stumps, logs and rocks. An excellent indoor plant. In the garden it likes a shady environment. Prefers loose, free draining, slightly acidic rich soils with good aeration and plenty of organic matter such as compost, manures and mulches.
Apply a slow release or liquid fertiliser during the active growing season.
