Alpinia 'Giant Pink'
A large upright Alpinia with soft pink erect flower spikes. The Giant pink is a bit less cold and wind tolerant than most other Alpinias, so best used in warm protected positions.
Typical height: 2.5 to 3m
Climate: Prefers tropical or subtropical climates
Light conditions: Full sun to part shade
Growth habit: Tight clumping, upright
Growing conditions: Moist well drained soil, rich in organic matter
Flowers: Spring
Origin: East Asia
A beautiful tropical plant which is much larger than the common shell ginger and has bigger blooms with greater fragrance. It may be grown in the full sun provided it is given adequate water, though the plants will look their best when provided with afternoon shade.
