Adds a tropical feel to any garden. Reddish flowers are borne in long spikes at the end of branches but are not significant when compared to the plants flamboyantly coloured foliage. 

Prefers humid conditions, salt tolerant and requires some protection from strong winds. Plants may be damaged by drought and frost. Likes to dry out slightly between waterings. 

An all round fertiliser may be applied during the growing season. Higher potash levels will help boost leaf colour. Plants respond well to cutting back and benefit from an annual trim to keep their shape.
