A low growing plant with a spreading growth habit. A fantastic ground cover which will gently spill out over garden edges or containers. Quite hardy once established. Will grown in areas where there is already a lot of roots from surrounding plants.

Pronunciation: ak-uh-LY-fuh

Synonyms (AKA): A. reptans, Stephie, Dwarf Chenille Plant

Typical height: 30 to 40cm

Climate: Prefers tropical or subtropical climates, or warm protected positions in temperate climate.

Light conditions: Best in dappled light

Growth habit: Spreading

Growing conditions: Moist, well drained soil

Flowers: Spring through to Autumn

This plant will tend to looks best when grown in part shade conditions, but the Dwarf Cat's Tail will also grow in full sun, provided ground is kept moist.

If planting as a ground cover, recommended spacing is about 30cm (centre to centre) which will enable the plant to spread out and give full coverage within a year.

This species is often referred to as Acalypha reptans 'Stephie', however the more correct classificiation is Acalypha herzogiana.
