Meaning of name: 'Guadua' comes from the native word that Columbian and Equadorian communities call this bamboo. 'Angustifolia' in Latin means Narrow Leaf.

This structural bamboo is said to be insect and rot proof for up to forty years. It is straight, strong and thick walled with an open clumping growth habit.

Very beautiful but also very thorny, though the thorns are only present on the lower third section of each culm.

If you have the space and are after a good timber bamboo (aswell as a spectacular ornamental), then this is a must have.
